loading bar colors are off, it's hard to see where it's loaded to.

items to drag onto the stage are finite, you should just duplicate the MC/Sprite on click, and add a trash can somewhere to remove objects.

Rotation and "flip" would be good ideas, and would cut down on stage space.

removing the static image at the top is also a good idea, and include all blocks from minecraft (drop-down?)

a larger, scrollable stage would be nice. Put everything in menus instead of just placing it around the stage.

keep going, and use FlashDevelop and AS3 to code your projects. It's not hard once you get used to it (which takes a relatively short amount of time) and saves a lot of time and frustration in the long-run.

The concept is nice, if you make it 3D and (if you can figure out how) and export option, and it'd be something very enjoyable.

pros: It was fun to simply freeze my enemies into something more useful rather than outright kill them
the animations were absolutely hilarious! The engine excelled at what it did.

cons: The engine was a bit small and the game is largely unfinished. Once you complete the game, you should re-submit it (via editing) ;)

well, it's good to see there are so many helpful reviews here!

pros: I loved the idea. The concept was original, it was basically a "build your own platformer" in game style. The graphics were spot-on, and the engine itself was good. Honestly, I couldn't see any bugs.

cons: The controls are off. Jumping and ducking should be grouped with the directional keys, and other keys should perform other functions (remember, a PC gamer's natural hand position is on w, a, s, d, shift, and space)
the game was too easy - the first time you die on a level is the last time you will die on that level.

Spudzy responds:

Not all games need 'up' as the jumping key. But thanks for the honest review. And yeah, I hope we actually start getting more helpful reviews coming in.

pros: The ending was heartfelt

cons: It's not really a "game" - I love to read, but even I had to fight the urge to just keep clicking away.

pros: The engine is amazingly well done, I really like the raytracing! (teach me! :D)
The art is really good as well. The style is very cute :)
The concept is a classic with a twist - and I like the twist

This is probably a favorite to win.

cons: The game needs a "tutorial" level or two - I got stuck at the first level with a light
The controls are a bit off - the little guys move too fast for me to get a real handle on them :/

pros: The game was intriguing and fun, and I liked the story behind it. It fit with the game very well, which isn't easy!
The engine is also well done. No noticeable bugs, and smooth control with a nice, steady FPS rate :)
I also like the game art. It's nicely done - not too simple so as to be plain and boring, but not too complex as to be hindering.

I believe this has a chance to be one of the favorites to win.

cons: The game is almost impossibly difficult. It's easy to overdo difficulty, and it's easy to under-do it. Balance is key!
Also: When doing voice acting, try to normalize the sound. My speakers vibrated, and i'm sure someone with a headset and volume at full blast (as some do) would be screaming bloody murder.
You have the same issue as MintPaw and his engine - the "bounce" effect is nice, but it screws with the character control too much, making the game much harder than is needed.

pros: I like the story concept, it was new and interesting. It also threw a few "memes" in to be funny
overall, a great game! I expect this to be one of the top game choices for the jam. Professionally done, yet still fun to play.

cons: The engine was a little buggy in places, and it screwed with the controls a bit.
Also, try not to use current "memes" as they wear off after a while and become old and boring. Don't be afraid to come up with something new!
Also: Though it looks professional, be careful! A game that looks TOO professionally done will both have people criticizing the game much harsher, and will lose its "flavor" - its "indie-dev"-ness (i'm struggling for words at this point)

MintPaw responds:

Fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu
Why you no leave 5 star review!

pros: I like the game as a whole. It's fun and lighthearted, I don't think i've laughed so much in a while :D
I like how you threw a blanket over the weaker points of the game, it was very well done (I don't expect a lot, as it was made in 72 hours. A blanket is fine!)
I like the fact that you weren't afraid to run with the concept and stretch it across all of the levels of gameplay. The james bond theme was a nice touch alongside a cow ;)

cons: the voice acting was... Okay-ish. Again, you covered this up nicely with the visual static effect, but you should grab a program that can remove background noise. Also, don't be afraid to run with it a bit! Go off-script, even! Just make sure that there aren't any audible pauses in the speech, it takes away from the sentence overall and sounds like you're halfway memorizing lines.

pros: It's nice to hear and see a bit of 8-bit every now and then :)
good job, you didn't make a platformer like pretty much everyone else xD

cons: There's somewhat of a disconnect between the story and the game - like the story was an afterthought. Be careful when adding stories, they need to both be equally there! One can't just simply carry the other.
The concept is refreshing for the Jam, but try some new ideas. Play around a bit, that concept is from the 90's ;)

TharosTheDragon responds:

I agree with you. The story is slapped on. It was the last thing we added.

pros: I liked the music and the style. The overall feel was good, it looked and felt like you guys had fun with it. The player knows if you did or didn't. It shows! ;)
the story was unique and interesting. I liked it, it made me laugh xD

cons: the concept is very old worn-out, and it felt more like a mini-game rather than a full game. Try adding to it!

VioletVulpine responds:

K, Thanks.

I'm me. I is me. Me is also me. You are you. So really, it's mostly about me. Questions?
